In the context of a co-operation with the development organisation InWEnt in North-Rhine-Westphalia and the education institution "Neues Lernen" in Cologne specialists of the institute equalita develop and support an advanced training program on industrial environmental protection for experts from authorities and enterprises in China since the beginning of 2007. Beyond that training experts of the institute are involved in the tutorial preparation and support of the participants via internet.
The technical course has the objective to qualify decision makers, who develop locally adapted technological and economic measures for industrial environmental protection in adminsitrations and enterprises and accompany the implementation. Beyond that the participants join practical courses and provide an individual project work, which integrates learning contents of the technical course and the experiences in the practical course.
During the preparation and to the practical course phase the scholarship holders receive an additional long distance tutorial via the internet platform „Global Campus 21“ of InWEnt. The web-based support is an important element for insuring the quality and the success of this measure. Here the participants receive the necessary support for the preparation of the stay and afterwards for the practical courses as well for the individual project work. The tutorial support takes place both in the preparatory phase and in the practical course phase. In the preparatory phase a support is offered with a language course, e.g. by the introduction and switching of a technical glossary, the contentwise preparation on the stay and the project work. During the practical course phase the support concerns directly the production of the project work and in the practical course.
The technical course covers all substantial facts, goals, measures and practical examples of industrial environmental protection in Germany and Europe. On the basis of a representation and an analysis of the present global developments, which are characterized by the climatic change, in addition, by increasing resources and energy shortage and contamination of air, water and soil, an overview of the international and national environmental goals and politics, the basics of the industrial environmental protection and concepts for the integration of environmental protection into enterprise management is given.
Subsequently, an introduction into the general basics of the European and German environment law and special laws and regulations for ranges waste, water and immission control take place, supplemented by the presentation of their practical implementation in the everyday treatment of administration and enterprises. A further part of the training course presents practice-oriented solutions by modern pollution-control technologies, their different concepts and instruments, accompanied by excursions to enterprises, which use these technologies. This part will be completed by the introduction of important computer and web-based environmental information systems and programs.
In the last part an overview on concepts for the promotion of industrial environmental protection, promotion instruments, legal and private environmental standards and management systems will be given. The training course will be completed by learning units on gender and diversity concept and on international conflict management, as well as methodical assistance for the production of the individual project work.
